Found this on the internet, while searching for V-Day at a distance stuff (not that it matters, because I'll be in Brazil for Lover's Day anyways):

Arrange with each other to go outside and look at the North Star at the same exact time. Promise to think about each other and send a Valentine's Day wish with your thoughts, across the distance using the power of your heart. So romantic! The North Star can be seen from everywhere in the world. It's also the brightest star in the sky, so it's easy to find.

Mkay, a few problems here. Let's start with the basics.

First. The North Star? Definitely not the brightest. In the daytime sky, it's the Sun. In the nighttime sky, it's Sirius. Which just happens to be in the constellation of Canis Major. Nowhere near the North Star.

Secondly. The North Star can only be seen in the Northern Hemisphere. And the world? Not entirely in the Northern Hemisphere. Trust me, get too far below the equator and you can't see it.

Consider yourself informed.
