Alas, the airplane ride was not to be.
I sat at the itty bitty local airport for a little over an hour. It was creepy -- hardly anyone was around, like something out of a King novel. The place looked abandonned, empty. I watched a practice landing and takeoff. Another plane landed and refueled, but it wasn't Bossman. So I went home.
Sure enough, there was a message on my answering machine: someone left the master switch on, the battery went dead, and it needs time to recharge.
We'll go another day.
